Help. I just bought a Sonnet G4 upgrade (400mhz) for my G3 beige desktop. Following the directions (yes, I really do that) I installed the new processor along with some additonal RAM. I closed up the maching and tried to start up. All I got was a cliking sound when I prsees the power on button. Almost like an alternator on your car when it won't start.

I went ahead and replaced the VRM module (long story) and the battery and still the same problem.

Any suggestion before I breakdown and bring it in to Tekserve.

    Thanks.

First thing to do is remove the new memory and card.....reboot ......if all is well then try installing the memory and rebooting.....

This thread is probably old news............... but lklainberg, if you read this.........

Just do one thing at a time. Put in new CPU card. reboot. If all is well, then install your RAM sticks.

    Watch out for stray static!

    regards,
