    Default No video Mac mini

Older Mac mini G4..... re-installing OSX 10.5. In the middle of install monitor went to sleep but won't wake back up. I waited forever for it to maybe complete the install.... monitor still off. Rebooted machine- same thing. Ejected disc and rebooted- same thing. Tested monitor , it's just fine...

    Anyone ?

Zap the PRAM. On Startup hold the (command + option + P + R) keys. Hold them until you hear the first startup "bong/chime" and keep holding them for about 3 more "bongs/chimes". (4 total chimes)

    Open Firmware reset -

Hold the Command+Option+O+F keys during startup. This will put you in the Open Firmware Interface. At the end of any text you will get a '>' prompt. At that prompt type:

    reset-nvram -Hit Return
    set-defaults -Hit Return
    reset-all -Hit Return

Command+Option+O+F will do nothing if your mac is NOT an open firmware machine

When I try to zap the ram, it will beeeeeeep once... I keep holding and it will only start up chime once...

Am I not holding down long enough ) I held for a minute) or am I doing something else wrong?

also, nothing happens when I try to zap the NVRAM for the firmware reset !

I've heard people say you only need one "bong" here's what I was taught and have used. Same as Damien said...

Zapping the PRAM. On Startup hold the (command + option + P + R) keys. Hold the keys down until you hear the first startup "bong" and then about 2 or 3 more "bongs or chimes". Let keys go and it should boot.

Try it again but don't do it over and over...

Also, try pulling the power to it, and let it sit for hours better overnight. Let all the juice drain... even pull the RAM. Try restart again. But it needs to sit powerless a long time.

Default How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac

Apple has a document that talks and explains some about it right here.

If a G4 won't boot to Open Firmware there is probably something wrong with the keyboard or with something else attached to USB. Make sure you disconnect all USB devices except your KB and Mouse. And if you still have issues, try different KB and mouse.

All pre-Intel 'G' Macs will boot open firmware - the PowerPC chip ran on OPen Firmware.

What possible purpose is there in posting on threads from 2015?
