    Default Macbook Pro older OS

If I buy a refurbished Macbook Pro from Apple UK (say 2 years old), can I load an older OS onto it, say 10.6.8?

Reason being I also run an iMac, which runs on 10.6.8, and it strikes me it would be easier to make both machines the same in terms of OS and other programs, rather than do an upgrade on the iMac.

Best way to know is to use MacTracker to determine earliest OS.

Most Apple firmware is set to refuse to boot an earlier revision OS, so it isn't as simple as the old days when you could take a operating system install off another machine and boot the newer one.
