Amusing Ourselves To Death - by Neil Postman

I highly recommend this book. It's non fiction and written in 1985. It's still VERY relevant today. It's an essay(?) about the TV society but not about the crap on TV it's about how TV news being ratings based AND formatted in segments is desensitizing the world. It's not too long and a pretty easy read as well

Also it's the inspiration for the great album by Roger Waters called Amused To Death
