    Default Question Mark Folder G4MDD

I'm just wondering why do I see a folder with (?) upon bootup before it actually boots up regularly. Any way to make that disappear? Thanks

That means it doesn't have an assigned boot drive. You can go into the startup disk preference pane and tell it which drive you want to boot from to make that go away.

BUT if it just started doing this for no apparent reason I suggest you also change your motherboard battery. That G4 is getting older and the battery is due anyway.

I think that means the computer is "searching" for all the bootable systems. I've seen this on my G4's when I had multiple drives connected.

I don't think it can be removed - it's thinking. A script might be written but thats beyond me.

Thanks guys, youre right. I used an external bootup drive and removed it. Took me a while to set jumpers too. I use the g4 for printing only coz all the profiles are there until the hard drive died again. 2nd time in 2 years. Seagate.
