    Question Pro Tools set-up

Wanting to purchase a Mackie 1402 VLZ Pro.
    Any good in your eyes?
Don't need anything larger unless a 1604 VLZ happens my way
    .... on the cheap.

Also wanting to know ..... are the SATA HDs fast enough for say 8 tracks live?
Using a PCI Sonnet card also

    Got any advice, using old P T 5.1 .... 001?

    Thanks, h

Mackies are OK IMHO as long as you stay in the green, and avoid the EQ.

Any modern HDD is plenty fast enough for 8 tracks on an 001. The only potential issue you may run into is PCI bus traffic, but that can usually be solved by changing the order of the cards.

I traded my 001 for a Delta 1010/M-Powered setup for the system upgrade compatibility some years ago. That 001 setup is still rockin' today.

    Question

Got a Mackie 1402 VLZ PRO on the way to my front door.

I asked this a few years ago ..... here the question again.
    Any one know of free plug-ins for PT 001 - 5.1 ?

    Thanks, h

There was a thread on the old DUC about free plugs. You may be able to dig it out of the archives at AVID, but there'll likely be a lot of bad links.

The free plug I got the most use out of back in PTLE 5.1 was Inspector. Don't know where you can find it now. I used the free versions of the Massey plugs, but that was PTLE 6.4. They never made 5.1 versions of those.

    Question

Thanks, I'll see what I can dig up.
I have os 10.5.8 on a 1 TB drive .... could I get version 6.4 or any version besides 5.1?

10.3.9/6.4 is as far as you can go with an 001 for PT. Core audio works in 10.4. That's why I traded for the Delta/M-Powered setup.

    Hey thanks for that also.
Been checking out the DUC and still trying to find some Massey plug-ins.
It's been quite a while since I checked anything out for 5.1.
We are talking more than I care to read.
So, It's going to be a slow row.

Is the v6.0 disk still available ?
I think I read that the updates are free.
I doubt if v6.0 is. Do you know?
Did you have any problems when using 6.4 and 10.3.9?

V6 is a paid upgrade from 5.1, but it's pretty cheap IIRC.

    Massey plug-ins are here

I downloaded them, but will they even work with 5-1 or 6.0?

Ok, after I get the mobile rack unit built, we'll find out.
Still waiting on my Mackie to show up.
I have emailed the seller twice, but he hasn't returned my calls.
Starting to get that crappy felling again.
Been there ... done that ....... Ebay auction.
Wait and see ... still have a couple of days left for delivery, before I can make a legitimate claim.

talk to ya in a few, h
