Confused I'm almost (almost) ready to dump

Apple, control freaks! After putting up with sign in pop ups in iTunes every time I opened it (for auto downloads) I finally had to "sign in" to iTunes and it stopped. Why are they doing this shit?

Trying to automate everything, but keep up security. Delicate balancing act.

I played with prefs, but worked for me to get rid of the nag was to simply sign out in the upper right hand corner of the default screen ("iTunes Store" selected on the left). Once out, is says "Sign In". Now quit and restart iTunes......no nag for me; does not try to log you in, so no need for PW.

Yes, you will have to sign in to buy, browse, download, etc.
