    Default Kernal Error

What exactly is a Kernal Panic and/or Kernal Error ? Are they the same animal or completely different. I've heard the term a billion times and still don't have a clue....

    Layman's terms please

    Happy you figured it out.
    Just a computer getting confused.
Most often due to memory issues.

Or, as one of my clients found out recently, trying to use the wrong firmware from a restoration CD! Took me a while to work that one out. He had tried to solve a problem by trawling the internet, someone suggested he do the firmware restore, but then downloaded the wrong one.
Got half way through it, froze with a panic and he couldn't get out of it. Stuck the Mac Pro into a cupboard for two years thinking it was terminal before finally sending it to me. I couldn't work out why the bar came up every time it booted; I thought it was a software update that had been interrupted. Or that it was a safe boot that was trying to implement each time. Then it occurred to me that it was trying to do a firmware update, so I downloaded the right one, created the cd, installed it and all was well!
Just shows the danger of people trying to solve their own problems when they haven't got the first idea of what they are doing. They seem to have the idea that if it isn't broken, break it... or if it is broke, then break it some more!

I agree, but unless you move forward you wind up going backwards.

Some people are born backwards... and continue in that direction!
There are two types of people: shepherds and sheep... some people think I'm a wolf.

Like the old saying: my horse got a broken leg, so I shot him. After a week and he didn't get any better, I shot him again.

Hmm, tricky one! Could possibly have been lead poisoning that affected the horse then... try chelation therapy
