    Default installing OS9 on a PowerBook G4

    had to install new hard drive on my PowerBook G4...I reinstalled original software for the powerbook G4, but can't get OS9 to install, when I start up with OS9 in cd drive it doesn't boot up with CD background...any ideas?

    Is this OS 9 disc older than the Powerbook? If so it usually won't work. Or if this OS 9 disc is a model specific disc, like if it came with an iMac then it won't work with a Powerbook. You need a model specific OS 9 disc made for your model powerbook OR a retail OS 9 disk made after your powerbook came out

    If you think your disc is the right one then start up holding down the 'C' key until you see the OS 9 CD background.

    One of the things I tried to do with my Brothers old iBook 800mhtz was get OS9 installed. It seems the replacement hard drive was the problem. Never would work. That would be my guess, the hard drive.

    Hey just let you guys know...the install disc (OS9) was a upgrade vs, I found the full vs of OS9 and it installed fine...thanks for the ideas...
