    Default Whoa.....HP is gone!

    http://www.appleinsider.com/articles...s_of_ipad.html

That's crazy! They just bought webOS for 1.2B, and now they kill it? No more PCs? They were first in the market, and now HP and Compaq are gone? HOLY CRAP, that leaves:

    - Dell (Dell owns Alienware)
    - Acer (Acer owns Gateway, eMachines, and Packard Bell brands).

    Brands with limited market penetration:

    - Lenovo
    - Asus
    - Sony
    - Rain (trying to be Mac like hardware for high end Win users)

.....And who else? A quick look at Bestbuy PC towers shows 1/3+ models are HP or Compaq.

Seems like a big void to fill......who will fill it? Samsung does laptops, again with little traction (I've never seen one in the flesh), towers would not be big challenge. Who else?

Gates did say the PC's days were numbered. Not sure this is what he meant.

IBM is already gone, only servers now.

HP is strong in servers, and their switches are gaining traction. I like them.

But none of that is consumer or end user stuff.
