    Question Video out on MacBook?

    I have been using my iBook G4 for power point presentations at work for the safety meetings. I have a cable that is allows me to use the video out port to RCA cable allowing me to run my presentation on a television with video in ports. I also have a video adapter to use an external monitor. I have been searching for a cable adapter that gives me ability to do that with my MacBook. I am not sure of the cable terminology when I search for the adapter cable. I found an "Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter"on the Apple Store.
    Anyone know if this is correct?? Or am I looking at the same cable I already have?

    Thanks

    Wojo

    Depends on the vintage of the MacBook.

    All current MBs use Mini Display Port:

    Previous generation MBs (Late 2009 and older) used Mini DVI port:

    I'm guessing you have a previous gen MB, so the three most common adapters would be:

    - Mini DVI port to VGA
    - Mini DVI port to DVI
    - Mini DVI port to video

    Really depends on the ports on projector. VGA is most common I would guess.

    Default MacBook is

    MacBook7,1, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.4 GHz Processor. 2 GB Ram;
    Boot ROM Version: MB71.0039.B0B; Serial Number (System) W8031JYNF5W;
    Hardware UUID D68B88B01-6D1E-5C77-B2B7-996648EF9622.
    The display port appears to be the one you say all the current MB have.

    I appreciate the help.

    Yup, that is the Mid 2010 model, with Mini DisplayPort out.

    So.....

    - Mini Display Port to DVI
    - Mini Display Port to VGA
    - Mini Display Port to HDMI

    are the most likely choices.
