Default itunes 9.2.1 crashes on CD burn attempt

I click 'burn disc' on a playlist in itunes, but the entire program crashes.

    ??????

(and, no, there ain't no 'select cd drive' option in preferences, I can post pictures of the pref control panels if you like)

    any help appreciated,

    rick Olivier

In the later iTunes the select cd drive option comes up after you click burn disc so it is no longer in the preferences

on your computer go to this folder

    Macintosh HD>Users>(your user folder)>Library>Preferences

    and delete the following

    com.apple.iTunes.plist
    com.apple.iTunesHelper.plist

This will not delete your music or your playlists.

Log out (or shut down) and when you log back in see if that might have fixed it

You might try doing the combo updater for your system. Sometimes that can cleanup conflicts.

Reinstall iTunes or check for an update.

I think there were some postings on the apple support pages about this sort of problem, might want to dig around in there.

    Good Luck

That looks like a kernel level permissions problem.

Have you run AppleJack lately? or at all on this system?

I saw iTunes (7) crash my G5 iMac when the optical drive was starting to go, but Applejack would usually cure it for a few burns. Eventually the hardware had to be replaced, but I'll bet a good deep permissions repair will help.

    I use Roxio Toast...
