Thread: Self Assigned IP #

    Confused Self Assigned IP #

    MY IBook G4 will not connect to the internet using Airport. It will work with an ethernet cable. Network Assistant says there is a Self Assigned IP #. I connect via a Westell DSL modem from Verizon. I'm using Mac OS X 10.4.11. I don't have the original system disks.

    Just to make sure the setting are right...

    Go to Network Preferences. Select Advanced and then hit the tab up top for TCP/IP.

    You should be configured as Using DHCP (which means the iBook gets its IP address from the router)

    There also is a button you can hit to Renew DHCP Lease. This forces it to ask for another IP address. See if that help.

    I am not running 10.4, haven't in a couple years at least. It may have a few small differences form this Leopard screenshot of the TCP/IP Config page.
