Exclamation Urgent Question Regarding Disk Rom

    Hi there!
    I have a early 2008 20" Silver intel imac Model Identifier: iMac7,1.
    this one:

My Super Drive is broken, and I have a bunch of other problems, resulting I can not boot from external drives or HDDs. Long story short I can only re-install windows through bootcamp using the internal cd rom, therefore I must buy a new one to replace my super drive.

    I have discovered an auction

selling Replacement DVDRW Drive for Apple Laptops, this drive is 12.7mm height. ( I have no idea how thick is the PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K06A)

It says it can replace Pioneer DVR-K06

    My Question is:
1)Is the Pioneer DVR-K06 the same with PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K06A
2)Will it replace the PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K06A in the imac?

    Thankyou Very Much!!!!!!!

Pretty sure it will not. The most recent opticals are very thin, hard to find, and very expensive.

As a quick fix, how about an external FW optical drive? Can't say about Boot Camp/Win install, but on the Mac side, it would be much cheaper, faster and easier to go external. Just not as pretty. If you get a Mac compatible model, it will be fully bootable, and act just like your internal (again, I can't say for sure with your Win Boot Camp install).
