Default Hard Drive Crashed Need Data Retrieval References

My Mac Mini hard drive crashed. A diagnostic shows it has a failed read/write and needs a mechanical restore. I am looking for experienced, yet reasonable place to do this. The quote I received is in the thousands and it's only an 80 gig hard drive. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am in Los Angeles.

You mean to swap the drive with a new one, or to restore the data from the old one? Restoring data from a damaged drive can cost thousands, if the drive won't mount. They have to disassemble the drive in a clean room. No cheap way to do this that I know of. Drive Savers has the best reputation, but may be one of the most expensive. Can't speak about others, no experience.

Replacing the drive should be about an hour labor plus the drive. About 200 bucks?
