    Confused IBook Upgrade

I upgraded my IBook to OS 10.4.11. Now the IBook won't start from the power adapter. The power adapter is not the Apple original. It did work prior to upgrading. It starts from the battery.

Hmmm, never seen that before. Have used quite a few aftermarket power supplies without issue.....wonder if Apple tightened up voltage tolerances or something?

Wanna buy a couple Genuine Apple power supplies for cheap? Just happen to have a couple sitting idle.

    Sure. Tell me how.

Also is there something in the OS upgrade that would reject anything other than a Apple original?

I am not aware of anything, and honestly, I would skeptical that there is something, but I can't explain what else what you are seeing.

You could try plugging in the AC adapter after the ibook is booted......should start charging. It should also charge when the iBook is off and plugged in. What happens if you charge it when it is off? A couple hours when it is off should get you back to close to a full charge.

If it won't charge when it is off, then it is not a software issue. That leaves something internal like the inverter board or firmware, or the power adapter itself. I think.
