    Exclamation Can't format drive

One of my backup drives in my Burly 6PM went offline. Under disk utility it shows up in the left column, but all options including erase are grayed out.
I installed the drive inside the mac pro and got the same result. Is that a sign of a bad drive?

Sure sounds like a drive that is having trouble. What drive model is it? And do you know if it was retail or OEM drive? Reason I ask is some of the OEM drives can have server firmware which can cause things like this to happen.

Installing inside your MacPro is usually a good way to see if something on the external bus was causing the issue. That isn't it though. If you cannot reformat then the drive is looking like the culprit.
