    Default slow rendering?

is 25 minutes a long render time for 7 or so minutes of HD video? it has to be. which brings me to my next question what is A. wrong or B. what can i get to speed the process up?

i have a raid 0 with two hitachi drives 500gb, set up with apples raid. and its about 3/5 full. 400gb or so left on the drive. is the fullness of the drive causing a slower render? should i only have one projects worth of clips on the scratch ata time? and the rest on the back up drive? the raid has been moved from external to internal, maybe a defrag and setting up the raid from scratch might help with less data on it? i could stab in the dark for hours.

im running a mac pro 2.66 with 2gb of ram, and FCE 3.5.1

Add more RAM and make sure you have what Apple calls symmetrical memory performance. There is a link in my MAC PRO FAQ.

Also depends on hard drives and storage configuration.

    FCP 5.1.4+ should have 4 x 1GB memory minimum.

Also are you including DVD compression time in that or is it just the render time?
