Default 9600 Powers on by itself

I have recently purchased a PowerMac 9600 and has been fine for the first two weeks and have only now noticing it start up by itself!

I have checked the energy saver control panel and no scedules are set up there so i'm really puzzled to the cause.

It will power down for about 10 minutes and then start up again.

Anyone else come across this one? Kinda freaky.

I have a 8600 that refuses to shut down............

Sounds like there's a short somewhere that's causing it to power up. Is it dirty inside?

Corrupted Energy Saver preference? Tried trashing it?

I tried trashing the preference, Nortons disk doctor, Speed disk optimization and it made it worse!!!! I was horrified to find every time it shut down it would immediatly start back up!

Pulling out the suspected Keyboard did the trick must have been a short in the board somewhere.

    thanks guys for the info.

The last time I used Norton it trashed my drive. It usually creates more problems than it solves. I'd suggest another utility like TechToolPro or Diskwarrior. File optimization is really not necessary on modern drives.

Good to see it was an easy fix. Didn't think about the keyboard angle. I've never seen that one.
