    goyaman,

you don't say what kind of G3 you're dealing with, nor whether the "factory" disk is a Retail or OEM (comes with a computer) install disk. If OEM, which machine is it for?

If you're already running 9.0 and you have internet access, then you could use the 9.1 downloadable installer found here. Having done that you can upgrade to 9.2 if you want.

    biggles.

    Lightbulb

Another question, is it a gray OEM 9.1 disk for another Mac?

OS X 10.1 came with a 9.2.1 Full Install CD and most people want 9.2.2. There are a number of changes from 9.0/9.04 to 9.1 such that, at the time, a lot of USB modems and USB devices 'broke' as well, but it is a cleaner OS, a lot of fixes, less legacy support, reduced dependence on 68K routines.

Or, there is OS X itself.

Now, where else are you going to find that kind of information?

    Nice one TZ.

    OUCH, Goyaman !
    As Biggles posted ,
    What G3, and what disks.
If I rember correctly those updates were HUGE downloads(on dial-up) , so save them if possible.
TZ is correct as usual, If you are "stuck" in OS9 as I am ,
9.1 / 9.2.2 are the final evolution of the classic Mac OS,
and while are not as advanced as OSX I find them more refined.

you really ought to skip all versions of 9 and go to X.
