    Default 20in lcd power issues

    can anyone think of why the power button on my LCD wont turn off my machine...or put it to sleep...all cables are plugged in... brightness buttons work...but no power

    Is it enabled in Sys Prefs>Diplays>Options?

    Reset nvram and set defaults and see if that helps.

    i have been told many times for different things resetting the nvram and reset-all in open firmware might help. what does it actully do..?

    You can read what Apple says if you haven't from there.
    If you have a G5, the SMU (which replaces the PMU) handles sleep, fans and other settings.

    PCs have a BIOS. The Mac depends on Open Firmware which is used by SUN and IBM as well as Apple.
