    Default Why buy an iBook?

That thing is so small I would rather carry it around than an iBook any day. Nice machine to carry to do on site video presentations. Hooked up to a projector with a portable screen and you look really top pro. Under 3 pounds is incredibe. Curious to get reports on performance though.

    $499~$599 US
    Here in japan??
    68,000~70,000 yen
Bear in mind a G5 1.8 single runs us
    178,000 yen.

All in all about 1,000 dollars less. And you can put in your desk drawer.

I see this as the cube II, do you think it will be a success or bust like the cube in 2001?

Well I won't say either way. No one has one to test drive yet.

But for any serious mac user looking for the true speed and exspandability know for macs, I wouldn't reccomend this as a main computer, something for the kicthen counter or an on the go box that ways less than any "useable" notebook. Just depends on what your work flow requires. As for a net surfing only machine..... I think i would be fine. Though a 10/100/1000 enthernet card would be nice. Most homes don't get 1gig net throughput as it is. Just gotta think about what you are after. Cheap, supposed to be fast, small. Sounds good but will wait for some solid reveiws before I think about one.

I think it is the perfect computer for people making the switch from MS stuff and could not affort an iMac G5 or an PowerMac.

My girlfriend just placed an order (1.42GHz, 512MB) it will be the perfect replacement for her G3 connected to her Formac white LCD .

I think the Mac Mini will make it, if you take a look back in 2001 the cube was a much overpriced system compared to the G4's.

    regards

Held one in my hand today.

Like the top 1/3 of a cube. Tiny.

I think it will sell well, cause it is positioned as an entry level Mac, not like the upper crusty/elite Cube.

    One on order for work.

    Gotta run, borrowed bandwidth...
