Default USB2/Firewire combo cards and deep sleep

    Hello all,

I am looking to buy a usb2 card and thought it might not be a bad idea to opt for a couple of firewire ports as well. I would like any feedback or experiences on using these cards/what brands that support deep sleep (understanding that it may come down to what is plugged in). Currently no issues with deep sleep.

I am also curious about the OWC card...

Only $29. Got to be a catch. Anybody had experience with this card. I emailed tech support and have to date received any answer and this particular card doesn't seem to be in AYM's database. The picture seems to have the NEC chipset but nothing definitive.

    Any other suggestions?

    Tempo ATA133
GeeThree Sweet Multiport (love this guy and the price dropped to $50 right after I bought mine)

Tempo Trio would let you do everything. Sonnet is the most reliable in USB2/FW and deep sleep.

You'd be buying a card that is not compatible with G5 (meaning it isn't PCI 2.3 I think) and isn't 3.3v.

OWC has a card for only $9.95 that is FW400 only.

    USB2 requires 10.2.8+.

    OrangeMicro USB2/FW is another.

You'd think OWC would pay us for their tech support some days.

I'd been looking at the Sonnet Tango as the Trio is a bit overkill for me at this point. Altough I sometimes cringe at using OWC stuff the alure of the price is always there. Was just hoping this was one of those situations.

In reality I was just looking for usb2 but seems a waste to have 4 or 5 ports as I only have one usb2 device, a scanner. Seemed logical to toss in a couple firewire at he sametime.

    thanks again
