I purchased a 7600/132 with the intent of switching the processor for a faster 250 (from my old 8600). I was told by a number of sources that this WAS possible. However, I did it, and now the 7600 wont startup. I get the chime, but the monitor stays off. I even tried reseting the CUDA switch (as per one suggestion). Is there any way to make this work?

I'm betting that 250 is a Mach 5 processor card (L2 cache on processor card, no motherboard L2 cache DIMM). Mach 5 cards won't work in regular processor slotted Macs like the 7600. Sorry.

At the risk of sounding lame... Any way to "fool" with the 604e/250 itself to make it all work together?

I have a friend with a 7500/100 and he has asked me to find a faster processor for him.

    If you are still looking...

I found several good deals on Ebay (If you are an Ebayer) Several looked like "a good person or business"

    From 180Mhz to 250Mhz for around $15-$65

Umax had a 233Mhz going for around $25 + shipping

    Good luck
    Randy
