Out of curiosity, is it possible to change the power LED color on a Powermac 8600 or other model? I was thinking it would be a neat touch to replace the green LED with a different color, maybe even a flashing LED? I would think I could just snip off the LED from the cable and connector that plug into the motherboard, and attatch a different LED. I remember a while ago there was a place selling blue LEDs for Powermacs, and I can't find these around anymore. Anyone have any more information on changing the LED? Warnings? Cautions? Will I blow up the computer? Thanks.

You can buy blue LEDs at Radio Shack for about $5 each. Just match the Cathode and Anode with the current LED (The Flat sides should be to the same wire.). Be forwarned; The blue LED is much brighter than the green and reds (Amber is a combination of green and red).
