Whenever I turn on my G4 I get a long "beep" and a firmware command prompt that says type "mac-boot" or "shutdown". I've tried typing both and get nothing but a grey screen. I've had the motherboard replaced...same thing happens.
    Any clues? Please help

    try typing this:

    reset-nvram <return>
    set-defaults <return>
    reset-all <return>

    It should then reboot..

I've seen people mention it and in MacIntouch reports etc. Might want to start by reading Apple KB article #42642 though.
