This problem is on an internal Teac SCSI 6x CDR in my 9600. I'm using Adaptc Toast 3.5.7. The error says something like this...
    THE DRIVE REPORTED AN ERROR:
    Sense Key = Illegal Request
    Sense Code = 0x30, 0x05
CANNOT WRITE MIDEUM - INCOMPADABLE FORMAT

This never happens with one specific generic brand of collored CDR's (CompUSA) and with every other brand it happens 49 times out of 50. If it does rarely burn the CD I have no other problems, and the blank CDR is not damaged when I do get the error. The very same CDR that gives me an error will work fine when I use the same disk in another burner. My IT savy brother seems to think that the drive might just need to be cleaned. That or the lense is off and the drive doesn't know where to start burning. Do I by a CD cleaner or do I research the recalibration of the lense.

    Thanks, Brendan

    Hi Brendan

I had a similar problem with an external Iomega CD writer and it turned out that the drive was no good. Got a replacement from the manufacturers and now I have no problems whatsoever.

    good luck

    Neal
