Thread: Can i see all 200GB's of my ide drive by using Intech Speed tools?

    Or am I better off buying a new card? I do not own SpeedTools. Is there a 3rd option? Which card do I want. the computer is a G4 400.

    BTW..Congrats rick on the opening of the store...hope you do well!!!I bought a 140gb cheetah LW drive last month...wish I could have put the money in your pocket.

    ?Good to see ya! We are having a blast setting up things here.

    ?The way you get 200 GB to show is to have an ATA bus that supports ATA6. What the drivers are doesn't matter. Older ATA buses like the ATA66 motherboard bus are ATA5 and index the drives using 28 bit, it runs out of possible index numbers at 128 GB.

    ?ATA133 host cards are ATA6 and use 48 bit indexing. With 48 bits you won't run out of numbers until some unbelievable number like 440,000 GB drives. Most likely that is larger than you'll need.

    ?So you need a host card.

    Thats what i thought too, someplace i was reading that Intech supported volumes larger that 120GB. I will pass that on to the powers that be.
