Could your mobo batteries be bad? That is the earliest Mac system date, and sometimes when the mobo battery goes out, the system clock resets b/c of the loss of power, which normally keeps it running when the computer is shut down.

thanks for your reply. A technician check the battery and said it was fine.

    Hmmmm... if not the battery...

If you have the time and are very frustrated by this, you could reinstall the system. That may seem like overkill, but usually when hardware has been eliminated as the source of the problem, software is the next step.

Is there anything you are running that could be changing the date?

Good question. Very curious why both computers have the same problem. What do you have in your Startup Items folder?

If we are talking about OS9, I would start by trashing the Date & Time Preferences (which may be corrupt) in the Preferences folder. Reboot and reset the Date & Time in the Control panel. Reboot again and see if it sticks.

If that don't work, it may be time to do what ripper sez, reinstall the system. Anyone else with ideas? k

it is caused by the 10.2.4 update and apple is well aware of the problem and trying to research just what machines are affected and then hopefully they will offer a fix. it seems to be happening on the new MDD ,machines as well. Check out the apple forums for more info.
