Thanks for the link to the temperature monitor.
I've had the duallie 1.8 upgrade for about a year now and it runs totally stably. The only exception is on extremely hot days.....the proc can freeze up. However, on those days, I use a fan to...
Just to note. I have this upgrade, and I have cables to power the processor. Unless things have changed and Giga Designs changed the spec after my processor shipped over a year ago, this seems...
I frequently sleep my upgraded Quicksilver and have never had an issue with it with my dual 1.8 7447. I can't comment on the 2.0 specifically but suspect your experience would be similar.
I've been away for a long while from the board. I, too, have a Quicksilver 2002. I purchased a dual 1.8 GHz upgrade from the 'Gurus. After a couple of replacements, I have had a stable upgrade for...
Just checking in with a periodic update. I've had absolutely no issues after five months with my dual 1.8 GHz. The only thing I'm sorry about is that I didn't wait for the price drop. Oh well!

I have had absolutely no sleep issues with this upgrade.
Still going strong 2.5 months later.
:D
Still working on hard temp data....too busy working and watching Berserk. Totally addicting anime AND manga. This is bad.....
Nice results, boyd!
I'd go for the 1.6. In fact, if the dual 1.6 had been out when I was looking for a dual upgrade, I might have strongly considered that over the dual 1.8 I bought. :) (I know you're not looking for...
Thanks for the reply, Rick. I recently bought an extra stick of 512 MB RAM that was billed as PC133 CL2 to match the other two 512 MB, PC133 CL2 sticks I have in the Quicksilver. System Profiler...
I was about to ask the same question as Boyd when I found this thread. Is there a utility for OS X that will accurately report memory speed? I was disappointed when the PC133 RAM I bought for my QS...
I must have read that thread 20 times already in the last two months. :) That was one of the places I got the idea to reverse the CPU fan. In kaye's diagram, all that hot air is sucked in and...
But air is coming in through intakes in the bottom right of the case (e.g. around the hinge), no? At least I can feel that happening when I place my hand there. I thought the fans on the CPU...
Thank you, Randy, that was the thread I was talking about.
This site is a great resource.
The fan next to the CPUs. Ordinarily, this fan is an intake fan. However, the heat from the CPUs is therefore blown into a no-man's land against the DVD drive, with little means of escape. Someone...
I guess this is the right time to say that Xbench doesn't provide the most reliable information. I found the same when I tested my dual 1.8 vs. the stock 933 MHz proc. I list it in my report...
I couldn't get the Gigabump to run in OS 9 after removing the multiprocessing extension from the System Folder and pre-installing the GigaDesigns OS 9 patch. I had to switch to another hard drive to...
I haven't run any Classic programs or used OS 9 on a regular basis for a couple of years, and haven't tried with the upgrade yet. It may be worth a try, though. I wonder what the old MacBench...
I know Xbench is not the most reliable test, but many use it, so here goes.
Stock 933 MHz: CPU Test: 113.57
Dual 1.8 GHz: CPU Test: 221.21
I've now had my replacement GD 1418 dual 1.8 GHz upgrade for nearly three weeks. After some time for the upgrade to settle in, and waiting for some time off, I finally spent some time doing testing....

The service I got was totally :kickass: . And to think I wanted to give up. The replacement has been working fine the last couple of weeks. I plan to do some performance testing soon.
Thanks for your thoughts, k. Because I almost never use OS 9, I don't have to worry about the lack of 2D acceleration extensions. I do occasionally play around with Xplane 7 and SimCity 4, but...
Now that I've gotten my processor upgrade issues out of the way, I'd like to upgrade my video for Tiger's CoreImage. I do hobby video editing with this machine, and a small amount of gaming, so...
I sent the Gigabump back to Jason. After extensive testing, he found that he had video artifacts in most things in the two Macs he tested with. It turns out that it was a voltage regulator on the...
