I thought I had a pretty good video edit set up but things have been lagging lately.
The home SSD drive is on a fast dedicated PCIe card, but look at my terrible
times. Any thoughts?

What SSD?

What controller card?

What have you done to remedy it so far?

What ever apple uses in their DVD bays
I have not done anything to fix that yet.
This was a SUDDEN change that came
along with updating to osx 10.13.6 and
the update SWITCHED my start up drive
to this one which has been a back up cuz
the normal home drive is on a dedicated
6 gigabit PCIe card.

Don't know anything about Samsung SSDs. They have such pathetic US support, and even worse Mac support, that I have always refused to have anything to do with them.

Mojave automatically changes your file system to APFS. This *should* speed up solid state storage, but absolutely cripples spinning storage. You might reformat and copy back from a backup, see what happens.

hmnm, thinking the SSD in the optical bay, now upgraded 10.13.6, was sooo slow,
I put it in the PCIe (owc) slot. Now it wont even boot.
