A short "horror film" excerpt...

Errant behavior is just after the 50 second mark.

http://youtu.be/IGVjMgBFVAA :crossbne:

This all showed up after booting Safe Boot (boot with shift key down)

Much to my horror... after restarting the machine... about every 60 seconds, everything on the desktop disappears for 3 to 4 seconds, and then re-appears. If I had a finder window open... it would close, or revert to the base finder window.

FINDING THE MONSTER

Repaired Preferences...

Ran Disk Warrior and rebuilt the directory

...and of course re-booted a few times... NO DICE

Tried removing com.apple.finder.plist, and com.apple.finder.plist.lockfile and restarted... no dice...

A hint was, that the "pulse" happens "on the clock" about every 60 seconds... indicating their was a potential "process" involved somehow. Removed a couple of apps that went on over the last couple days... NO DICE

Installed Google Drive a few days back... tossed it into Clean My Mac's uninstaller, hit UNINSTALL.

Without even rebooting... problem solved.

When I started in Safe Mode, and then rebooted... something went way south in Google Drive. Serves me right... not the first time I've had a piece of Google software florf up a machine...
