View Full Version : Boot Drive: Split Into Volumes A Good Idea?

I recently bought an iMac, which obviously has only one internal drive. My previous Mac tower had a boot drive and a drive dedicated to image files.

Is it prudent to split the iMac boot drive into 2 volumes to mimic this, or would the cons be that the drive works harder and there may be no speed gains?

Thanks

One partition is best with a single drive. Faster and more flexible.

If you have more than one drive, like an external FW HD, then you have more options.
