View Full Version : LR 2.2 Slow Performance

I am having some troubles about LR 2.2 performance and PS CS3 too.

My system is:
MacPRO Quad Core 2.66 - 16GB RAM in pairs of 2GB.
4 Bay SATA Enclosure from MacGurus.
8 Bay SATA Enclosure from MacGurus.
CalDigit FASTA 4e PCI Express Card SATA Adapter

I have recently reinstalled my whole system to accommodate more storage space and to try to speed the overall performance.

Here is my current set up:

Inside MacPro
- 2 x 300 Velociraptors in RAID 0 = Boot + LR Catalog and LR Previews
- 2 x 150 Raptors in RAID 0 = PS Scratch

FW800
- G-Drive = Boot bootable backup (daily)

External SATA
- 4 x 1GB Samsung Spinpoint in RAID 0 = All my images including all archived images + all Lightroom images + all current work + LR cache + Bridge Cache.
- Daily backups on separate 1GB drives.
- All archives, all in triple back ups in single HDs

The system seems to work relatively fast BUT:
- LR takes HOURS to export 500 images to jpg 600
- After importing and rendering Standard previews, LR still takes seconds to render previews when developing each image.
- Opening and saving files in PS CS3 seems to take as much time as when I had the files on single drive instead of a 4disk RAID 0

Notes:
- Preferences are new since I just re-installed the whole system
- I have created new catalogs for LR and reimported all images from previous HD.
- I have relaunched and optimized LR catalog.

Something doesn't feel right.

Any ideas?

Thank you,
