I haven't worked in FW since 2004, Version 3. I always liked Photoshop better, but I couldn't work with animated GIFs, and I never got the hang of AfterEffects, or Illustrator for them. With CS3 I've been playing in some stuff I never worked a lot with. Fireworks CS3 is a lot easier for editing GIFs than I imagined.
Example: I updated an old GIF that's where I got my nickname.

When I got this, the cowboy had a gun on his side, and the computer was an old 'lay-down' PC with a CRT monitor on top. Well, I don't carry a gun, and I have an iMac, so I edited the picture to fit me better. Since then I made an animated header for my brother's business website (http://www.hts-bees.com), and have begun making other JPGs into animated GIFs.

What does anyone else use for animating GIFs?
Is there a good resource for training in this area? I'll be taking a class on it next semester, but I'd like to learn more in the meantime.

I use Photoshop CS3. When I purchased it, I assumed it would come with ImageReady CS3. Nope, so I import into ImageReady CS2 which came with Photoshop CS2. Photoshop Help Menu which connects with Adobe should have the info. I printed up the info I needed, the page titled "Saving optimized images". k
