I have a MacPro 8 Core and I am looking into adding an external SATA enclosure. I have read that the MacPros come with two extra sata ports on the mother board and that you can get a eSATA extender to allow you to connect to an external SATA enclosure. I was wondering if this would work with a port multiplying enclosure?

Sorry but no. Those ports are for SATA Optical drives... not that that matters, but they also are not hotplugable or hotswapable. Better to just stick a PCIe card in it and get a true eSATA connection.

We have all the parts on our pages for a "port extension". All that really is is cables and a PCI bracket. Just not all that useful of a solution with the limitations of an internal SATA bus.
