Hello,

Using two Segate 7200.11 drives in raid 0, would attaching them to the CalDigit 4e or the CalDigit 2e cards or the internal drive bays on the new 8 core Xenon Pro Macs have any effect on the read/write rates of the 2 drives?

Thanks,

Drew Harty

Only the 2e card would show any difference. The chipset on it is only a single lane card and limited to 150 ish MB/sec for everything attached to it. Since the 2 Barracudas are good for 200 MB/sec together the 2 port card would slow them down some.

The SATA controller on the MacPro is just as capable of giving full speed to the drives as the CalDigit 4 port card.
