Brand new intel mac is in a never ending restart cycle. We come to the grey screen with the apple logo and the progress icon and then it goes to black and starts over at the apple "ding"

Tried unplugging, reset PRAM, did hardware test.

Only recent change was we enabled read-write for all accounts on the system on every folder on the machine in an attempt to enable an account to rip music to itunes.

Any suggestions?

Try holding the shift key down to see if anything happens. If not, you can always insert your OS disk and hold down the C key to boot to the optical drive. Once booted to the DVD, you can try repairing permissions.

If none of that works, try the Apple/command key and the S key to drop into Single User Mode (http://www.westwind.com/reference/OS-X/commandline/single-user.html).
