Does anyone know if you can boot from an external SATA drive attached to a Macbook Pro laptop connected via an express PCI card? Sounds like it should work and could be a way to get a much needed larger drive to function with the laptop.

It would be FirmTek Express34 card if booting is needed.
Not sure, but SeriTek controllers generally do.

I don't think any of the card manufacturers have released boot code for the EFI equipped Intel Macs. The only way you get bootability is with a Firewire SATA drive right now.

Ouch! I thought once FirmTek got boot capability for the Mac Pro, that there would be an opportunity to add the capability to other products on MacIntel. guess not.
