Hello fets69, and welcome to the macgurus forums,
I am a bit new to OSX, but I'll keep the thread alive and try to help.

I believe the .pkg files are stored in /Library/Recipts.
You could try trashing the QuickTimeMPEG2.pkg there and see if that helps.

You could also use File/ Find/QuickTimeMPEG2 and carefully delete/trash the related results.
Of course repair permissions etc. to get your machine stable again.

I hope some more OSX savy members will jump in...

I don't know how to uninstall the QuicktimeMPEG2 but perhaps the package has an uninstaller. I have been using it for quite awhile now. There are 2 versions, currently one for OS9 and one for OSX Panther/Tiger as I recall. They are paid for separately meaning on my dual boot GigaMDD I need a license for each. If you are using the wrong one I'm surprised it would install. But I don't know. If you are using an earlier OSX installer, again I don't know. Are you using any other MPEG2 app or addon?

The only one that has changed is the OSX version over the several years of OSX. It does not come up as an updater via Software Updates. Instead Apple notifies me of an update and a link to getting there. k

thanx 4 yr help!

...yes I've done it
removed the package and idvd act a little better but not really as his best

it still crash when i try to change theme or doesn't load the selected theme showing only the buttons

I've noticed that there are two library folders one in HD and the other in User in which one should the QuickTime codecs be installed?

At the moment i have in both library the same QuickTime codecs

ciao!

Since I do not have this installed I can not say for sure.
That said, I think it should be in the HD library, not the User library.
Did you move some files around or was it installed in both locations?

I did a Spotlight search of my boot HD and found 3 folders:
1. /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.4u.sdk/Developer/Headers/CFMCarbon/QuickTime
The QuickTime folder contains 32 aliases.

2. The originals to the above, 32 C Header Source Files, are found here
/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.4u.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/QuickTime.framework/Versions/A/Headers

3. This folder contains 19 Codec Components (Universal) located here
/Library/QuickTime
That's all I can find. k

Don't forget about /System/Library/QuickTime/

... (file:///System/Library/QuickTime/QuartzComposer.component/)QuartzComposer.component/
