I just bought two SATA 250 GB drives from woot.com and would like to add them as a RAID configuration into my two existing RAID drives in my G4. Will I need to add a SATA Device to IDE Device Mini Vertical Bridge to make all four drives work as a RAID? What other options do I have with the new drives?

If you have a stock G4 then you will need a SATA controller (recommend Sonnet or Firmtek).

Not sure what you mean by converting SATA-PATA, its usually the other way around.

As for RAID, you can buy a Hardware Raid controller (not really recommended by me personally), or use SoftRaid, or Apple's built in Software RAID.

Confused yet?

Very confusing stuff! I didn't put the server together myself so I will need to putz around with the system and see if Apple's built in Software RAID is what we are using now.

Is this the controller you mentioned:
Sonnet Tempo Raid 133 IDE Controller Card

Will I need on for each of the new drives? Or can it control the two new SATA drives plus the ones already installed?

Right now we have Raid Admin.app version 1.3.3 installed
