So I have a quad G5 with 10 gb of ram, and a UL5D. I have 6x36 gb Atlas 15k II's striped in a RAID O. I also have 6x36gb Cheatah 15k.3's hooked up to a UL4D in a Dual 2ghz G5. I was wondering how much of a benefit I could get by getting another UL5D and then combining those 12 drives striped across four channels? I should be able to get around 700mb sec transfers, but how much would that really benefit realworld photoshop use? Would I maybe be able to shave off a few seconds on the 1gb test file, or would it actually be alot faster?

I don't think you would see any difference on just a 1gb file.

Potentially it might help you by speeding up file save times if you put the photoshop file you're working on on one of the arrays, and the scratch file on the other- you might see a modest gain.

Better to put the $$$ into the cookie jar for a Quad Mac Pro or dual-Quad once those are out and CS3 is ready.

I agree, any modest gains you would get would be dwarfed by an upgrade in machine. Time to kick that ancient machine to the curb....
