View Full Version : Adding a drive to a "ST318405LW" to RAID
If I want to setup a RAID in my 7500 and use my current MilesU2W and "ST318406LW" Cheetah - then add another drive do I need the exact model no.? Mine is a "ST318406LW" can I add a ST318406LW or a ST318404LW?
With 2 Cheetahs in a 7500 - Will adding a fan be ok for heat? I have a great photo and step by step instructions for it off an older GURU post.

Hi ya Randy.
You do not have to match your drives perfectly....usually. Should work automatically slowing the RAID down to match the slowest drive.
I posted on the other thread right after you last posted.

Ha ya to ricks - been a while
I like the K.I.S.S. methood. I'll get another drive connect it to my MilesU2W and be happy. See how it works and if I want more then - do it later. I set my earlier searchs to short - I knew all my answers were on these pages.
Mostly just wondering if I would gain anything by a RAID. OR better off overclocking my XLR8 G3 400MHz? Later maybe - KISS for now?
YEA - I am lovin this new QS really really smooth - tons of storage - not as expeptionally faster than the G3 400 with my simple apps. Spending more time in OS X. I can't keep up with you and Gregory - you just know to much right now.
Thanks
Randy
