Seems the Miles2 has an issue with the improved Sawtooth. I am getting reads of 62 MB a sec and writes of 10MB sec. There is alot of files and the drives are not optimised but10MB a sec write! The Atto board hasn't arrived yet, just wanted to give you guys a heads up.

The machine is the following:
dual G4/533
640 Mb PC-133
nVidia AGP 4x
ATI radeon PCI
dual 18GB 10k Cheetahs
Miles2 (1.06 firmware)
Softraid 2.2.2

I'll mention it to Bob this week. Wanted to post it here for reference.

I got this from Dan at Initio earlier today:

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>Hello There,

Well this does not look good....we do not have a MP533 box, so it
is going to be difficult to troubleshoot this one.

Bob is out of the office today also.

I spoke to Robert on the phone and let him know that we are going
to have to get a box in to see what is going on.

At this time I suggested that he try different drivers to see if it
was in any way related to the SoftRAID drivers. I doubt it, but you
never know. I have forwarded a copy of the orignal email to Bob.

Will keep you posted as we learn more!

not at this time. We have one other report that the Initio card works in the
new Sawtooth when the Miles2 is running firmware revision 1.06 (available on
the Initio website), but that sustained writes are very slow. We are
notifying Initio, and will work closely with them on a fix. You may want to
join us on our upgrades forums:

we'll be discussing this issue there in detail, as events progress.

hang in there!

I spoke with Bob at Initio at 1pm Pacific today and he is ordering a 533DP thru, I think he said, Apple Development today. So, not to worry about that. k

Initio is a great company. Those guys always go the extra mile for their customers. I am not only saying this as a guru, but an IS Manager as well.

I'll second that. When Bob and colleages finish the firmware beta and we don't have to run with "Write-Through" enabled, I'll be voting for them with both hands.
