View Full Version : Monitor Q?

This may be fantasy, but does anyone know of a 19" CRT monitor that has a refresh rate of 90+Hz at 1280X1024.

Thanks for any input.

CRT's shouldn't be used at 1280x1024. That is "unnatural" aspect ratio, used only for LCDs. Stretched. My ViewSonic G90f does 90 MHz at 1280x960. Samsung and Sony will also do high refresh rates. Look for a monitor with a lot of bandwidth, more than 200 Mhz.

Thanks TZ.

I meant to say 1280x960. 1280x1024 would be unnatural http://macgurus.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif.

Thanks again on the 200MHz tip.

Huh? 1280x1024 on 20s is a standard res that is included in the supported res menus for every 4MB+ graphics card since way before LCD monitors came out. I know it's not the same aspect ratio as 640x480, but are you saying it is actually harmful, or you just don't prefer it?

Just want to make sure I'm not frying my tubes...

I meant "shouldn't" only as a CRT would distort text. Not that it is harmful. It might work for graphics. And didn't mean to imply that 1280x1024 was damaging or something. It definitely is listed as one of the supported resolutions on my VS G90f! and allows for 85 and 90MHz refresh rates (probably others). That same resolution is 'native' to LCDs and one reason I've used it on CRTs was so that both screens "looked" the same at times.

Whew. OK. Just checking.

I used to use it on a single Apple 20".
Now that I have a Sony 20" as well, I switched down to 1152x870. Better on my eyes...
