Just ordered the $29 ATTO ExpressStripe for Mac OS X 10.1 http://www.attotech.com/press/pressstripeship.html

I'm sure SoftRAID can't be far behind, but this looks better than the build-in RAID we have now, multiple volumes, and so I can benchmark my drives again.

I noticed that the new revision of the 10k Cheetah is way faster than the previous (52-68MB/s vs 31-51MB/s) pitting it nearly up against the X15. I have four SCSI drives - and no two alike! so I need to shop for 10k or 15kkk.

I would be guessing that Seagate is increasing the platter density on those old 10K drives. I've heard of 160GB IDE/ATA drives... that is starting to push into the 180GB Cuda range... Of course you need an ATA/133 controller or you will only get about 120GB since its like 24bits or something.

So did you get those 10K Cheetah scores running in
MacOS 9 - default Apple drivers?
MacOS 9 - SoftRAID drivers?
MacOS 9 - SoftRAID - Stripped setup?
MacOS X - default drivers?
Something else?

The I/O in X is pretty darn good http://macgurus.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
