View Full Version : Conflicts with OS X and a PCI SoundBlaster card???

12-20-2001, 08:42 PM
I was doing some reading - only god knows where - It was a forum type discussion. Many people said that the SoundBlaster card will not work with OS X and that Creative Labs are offering zero support.

Anyone hear anything?

Thanks

I had a SBLive card for a while in OS 9 and it did work but the drivers were buggy I then upgraded to OS X and could not even get an email response out of creative about support for OS X

The card would not function at all in X

I have not heard any rumors that creative is even working on X drivers

I sold my card on Ebay

That is what I read also. I really would love to have a SoundBlaster work full time. I have a set of 13 speakers, and 4 sub woofers. Its a pitty I can't fully use them, but what helps is something called a WowThing for computers, its made by SRS, and it really can help in some situations(someone told it can double the value of the apple pro speakers http://macgurus.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif) so surf around for one, if I find a link, ill post it.

Being kinda challenged in audio equipment knowledge please forgive me if this has no bearing on what your looking for.
http://www.imgmagazine.com/reviews/view.php?ID=219 is a review of the Yamaha CAVIT, I guess this uses USB on newer macs to power Dolby and surround sound speakers/home entertainment systems.

Yes, ricks is correct, the Yamaha CAVIT is very good, but a little expensive. So if cheap is your game, heres a link to the WOWthing. http://www.srs-store.com/store/mall/spc_wt.asp
