View Full Version : 10.1.1 update longs boot time?

Recently I had a chance to reinstall the system, 10.1 CD and 10.1.1 update over the internet. After I updated to 10.1.1, startup time longed...beechball freezes for minutes with little computer icon. Launchs fine but takes minuites to boot! I'm sure it's to do with 10.1.1 update...

I have G4 500DP, OEM Radeon AGP, Radeon PCI, OEM ATTO UL3D, 3 LVD HDs and an IBM ATA HD.

Any suggetion?

Many thanks!

I'd repeat the 10.1.1 update. I had the opposite happen on my QS and B&W. 10.1.1 shortened my bootup time. I have not tried a 'overlay' reinstall, hope that's possible with 10.1.1.

You might consider doing a Verbose Boot (Hold Command-V during startup.). This might give you a clue as to what the slow down is being caused by.

I have also noticed longer boot times with 10.1.1, but not to that degree. The spinning cursor freezes for 5 seconds or so, but other than that everything is normal.

My system is a G4 533, 640 MB, ATTO UL3D with 2 Seagate X15s (1st gen) on one channel, 60 GB IDE, G3Force 2mx, ATI 128 pro. I boot off of one X15
