Well - just got my OS X 10.1 upgrade CD and installed it on a 733 QuickSilver running w/ 1.1 GB of RAM.. and - talk about an order of magnitude improvement in performance .. astounding difference in how fast programs launch from the Dock (IE doesn't even bounce before it's up and running)...

Very, very impressive... nice mods to the log-in window as well

I know - it's pretty impressive - I'm using it now on my Lombard w/ 256 MB RAM - it's really nice...

(and it in fact works - last time I tried this I hosed my whole system)...

I find 10.1 is a NICE speed boost. I ran run two highres QT videos full screen - one in each of my RadeonPCI driven displays. This on a 'lowly' 500Mhz G3Yose.

I did have issues installing 10.0.0, then upgrading to 10.1 - It seem to have major issues with the dual radeons. My G4/466 at work did not have any issues with the RAGE128Pro + ix3D 8MB PCI - the ix3D is DOG slow, but it is rock stable and trouble free.

I do miss the auto turn on and off feature http://macgurus.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif - I like scheduling startups. Its like a $1500 alarm clock! http://macgurus.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

To boldly go where no english professor has gone before! -)

Well 10.1.1 is out, via software update. First impressions are good, it seems to boot much faster off my SCSI drive now.
