I have installed the Mac OS 8.6 upgrade on my computer. During the installation I got the message "The given source is not a valid image file. - - Mac OS Help.img."

What is the significance of this not being installed?

Thanks

Elliott

Probably not much.

I never use Help, not b/c I think I am too good for it, but because it tends to take forever, and reading the manual always seems to fix the problem.

The problem you had was that you have a newer version of Software Restore on your boot machine. The installer mistakenly launches the disk images and they're too old for the new program. If you really need the help files, you can locate them in one of the folders with the 8.6 installer and drag them to Disk Copy to mount the images. You should then be able to copy the files directly to the Help folder in your 8.6 System Folder.
